Workshop / public space performance / swarm sensing
Developed by Expanderrr Collective for LIWOLI — Linux Week Linz, this workshop explored swarming as a method for sensing, performing, and questioning public space.
Participants designed simple rule sets for collective movement, then acted as a swarm across urban spaces, observing how individual perception, emotion, and behaviour changed inside collective action. The workshop combined public intervention, social sculpture, sensory mapping, and group reflection, concluding with a shared discussion on swarm sensing.
Rather than treating the city as a fixed environment, the workshop approached it as a field of rules, habits, tensions, and affective responses that can be temporarily disturbed, read, and reimagined through collective performance.
